Level III Security Class (Online) – Part 1
For officers in the Houston metro, Fort Bend County, and across Texas
Texas requires Level III training before a Security Officer Commission can be issued. This enrollment covers only the classroom portion of that requirement and is completed online.
Access is self-paced with no fixed class times. Progress is saved on any device. The material builds from Level II and focuses on the additional legal and operational topics needed for commissioned status.
Topics addressed:
- Warrantless arrest authority and recovery of stolen property under the Code of Criminal Procedure
- Criminal trespass rules, including forms of notice
- Standards for usable field notes and reports
- Limits on a security officer’s role at a crime scene
- Force options keyed to the subject’s level of resistance
A written exam is required. Passing produces the PSP-30 certificate used for the classroom half of the commission application.
What remains separate: An in-person day covering defensive tactics, handcuffing, baton, and firearms proficiency must still be completed with a qualified instructor. That session is scheduled and paid independently. State licensing and commission fees are paid directly to DPS and are not included here.
Level II must already be finished. Completing this classroom portion alone does not authorize armed work; a commission and employment by a licensed company are still required.
Intended users: Security officers or applicants in Greater Houston (including Fort Bend) and statewide who have completed Level II and need the Level III classroom component finished before pursuing a commission. Not a substitute for the range day or for Level IV personal protection training.
Enrollment: $105 covers the online classroom portion only. Single payment. Access begins immediately. Not a substitute for the range day. Range day scheduled separately.
